JapanisJapan. 六本木 sucks gaijin balls. (JV, where I should go in Tokyo??) Physics is hard, I am intimidated, but there’s a lot of beautiful structure to explore. For instance, it’s possible to determine the temperature of an arbitrary black hole, by making imaginary time periodic to remove a singularity at the event horizon, and identifying that period with 1/temperature. It’s far from obviously true, but can actually be derived from first principles (conservation of energy and statistics of large systems.)

In other news, North Korea has invented a new tea, which is good for urination.

In case you can’t read Japanese, these pamphlets are titled “New Morals”. Produced by the world-famous Institute of Moralogy and distributed monthly at their Udon City national chain of buckwheat-noodle digs, these little guys teach such valuable lessons as “Supporting your regional community!” or “Emphasizing family bonds!”, but also provide a handy schedule of that month’s morality lecture series, touring the country at ¥2100 a pop. The former more is depicted by the rhinoceros with the tickbird-umbrella hybrid mutant, the latter by the two lovebirds—looks like the roided-out flower might be trying to get in on that.

(And yes, I realize that the fan-teeth-hiding thing is a Chinese thang, but incidentally, the rhino looks like he could use a fan for those two big curvy orange teeth. Gross rhino, just gross.)
